Why are the more than a million companies with 1-10 staff and only 86,000 with 5001-10,000 employees?
Look closer and ask yourself this. Why do so few 1-10 staff businesses ever reach 501 employees?
There’s a knowledge and willingness gap. Only the best make the transition from owner-managed 1-50 size, to the 51-500 employee-managed mid-market. New skills must be learned by the founder to make this transition, or the founder needs to bring in a new CEO, or stay small.
